# Using Dashboard Filters

Many of the dashboards in FI Works have filters that allow you to narrow the amount of information included. Some dashboards require you to enter values for a filter before they will run.

Some filters affect other filters on the same dashboard. In the example below, selecting a state filters the list of cities that are available.

The yellow warning icons by the filter indicated that a filter value is required.

#### Setting Filters

To set a filter value:

1. *Click on the filter to select the filter value.*
2. *The filter will list the available choices.*
3. *You may also start entering the first few letters of the value to narrow the available choices.*
